The%20competition%20of%20different%20length%20scales%20in%20quantum%20many-body%20systems%20leads%20to%20phenomena%20such%20as%20correlated%20dynamics%20and%20nonlocal%20order.%20To%20investigate%20such%20effects%20in%20an%20itinerant%20lattice-based%20quantum%20simulator,%20it%20has%20been%20proposed%20to%20introduce%20tunable%20extended-range%20interactions%20using%20off-resonant%20optical%20coupling%20to%20Rydberg%20states,%20known%20as%20Rydberg%20dressing.%20In%20this%20work,%20we%20use%20this%20approach%20to%20realize%20an%20effective%20one-dimensional%20extended%20Bose-Hubbard%20model.%20Harnessing%20our%20quantum%20gas%20microscope,%20we%20probe%20the%20correlated%20out-of-equilibrium%20dynamics%20of%20extended-range%20repulsively%20bound%20pairs%20and%20“hard%20rods.”%20By%20contrast,%20operating%20near%20equilibrium,%20we%20observe%20density%20ordering%20when%20adiabatically%20turning%20on%20the%20extended-range%20interactions.%20Our%20results%20pave%20the%20way%20to%20realizing%20light-controlled%20extended-range%20interacting%20quantum%20many-body%20systems.GaO知多少教育网-记录每日最新科研教育资讯

Photoredox catalysis has emerged as a transformative strategy in synthetic chemistry, enabling a wide variety of valuable chemical reactions through generation of highly reactive radical ion intermediates. Pairing chiral counteranions with cation radical intermediates provides a potentially generalizable tool for controlling absolute stereochemistry in various reactivity contexts. However, ion-pairing effects on the efficiency of photoinduced processes and the reactivity of radical ion pairs impose severe limits on the chiral anions that can be engaged effectively. In this study, we report that association of neutral chiral small-molecule hydrogen-bond donors with the counteranions of cation radical intermediates can achieve enantioselectivity through ion-pairing and other noncovalent interactions. Applications to four different classes of cycloaddition reactions of electron-rich alkene substrates provide cyclic products with up to four new stereocenters in up to 99% enantiomeric excess.GaO知多少教育网-记录每日最新科研教育资讯

The Moon formed from a giant impact of a planetary body, called Theia, with proto-Earth. It is unknown whether Theia formed in the inner or outer Solar System. We measured iron isotopes in lunar samples, terrestrial rocks, and meteorites representing the isotopic reservoirs from which Theia and proto-Earth might have formed. Earth and the Moon have indistinguishable mass-independent iron isotopic compositions; both define one end of the range measured in meteorites. Combining our results with those for other elements, we performed mass balance calculations for Theia and proto-Earth. We found that all of Theia and most of Earth’s other constituent materials originated from the inner Solar System. Our calculations suggest that Theia might have formed closer to the Sun than Earth did.GaO知多少教育网-记录每日最新科研教育资讯
